|Point Source(s)||Notes||Amount of Release|
|Natural gas header release valve||Cause: Overpressure on natural gas header caused the relief valve to lift.
1584 lb natural gas was released.|
Notes: No information given. http://www.trussville.com/3028.pdf
|Relief valve on heat recovery steam generator #3||Cause: The cause is believed to have been the failure of two pressure regulators in series on the natural gas pipeline, which then caused the pressure relief valve to open to protect the integrity of the line and equipment. The release was discovered on 6/21/10, but the LDEQ report states that the release duration may have occurred over a 10-day period beginning on 6/12/10. Relief valve on heat recovery steam generator #3 for natural gas.|
Notes: Upon discovery, the release was immediately isolated.
|Utilities Unit, EPS||Cause: The refinery's natural gas supplier over-pressured the natural gas supply pipeline coming into the plant. This caused a pressure relief valve on the pipeline to active and release the natural gas, and the resulting hissing/whistling noise attracted the attention of operations personnel.|
Notes: The relief valve automatically closed as designed once the excess pressure relieved.
