Cause: During maintenance activities of a fire pump gearbox an unrecoverable sheen was observed in the work area safety zone. The sheen was contained within the work area safety zone with boom.

Followup: No

Notes: The work area safety zone was boomed to prevent the unrecoverable sheen from migrating. To prevent reoccurrence, the fire pump gearbox oil will be replaced with environmentally friendly marine oil by March 31, 2014.
