Accident Classified As: No Information Given
Exxon received over three inches of rain. This volume resulted in oil exiting the refinery's Stormwater Outfall 003, entering the Mississippi River through Callahan's Bayou and creating a sheen. Sheen was approximately 20 ft by 100 ft.
Sheen was cleaned up by hard absorbent boom. This incident will be reviewed through the Refinery's storm water compliance program STOP (Sewer Tracing and Oil Prevention) to evaluate responses to future rainstorms.
