On March 18, 2014, Motiva Enterprises, LLC Convent Refinery (Motiva) reported an upset of the Flare Gas Recovery Area that caused emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2) from flaring of hydrocarbons containing sulfur compounds. The incident was initially reported as a potential exceedance of the 500-lb Reportable Quantity for sulfur dioxide. This report states that sulfur dioxide emissions were not above reportable quantities.
