On Feburary 12, CITGO Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex notified LDEQ's Single Point of Contact of a sulfur dioxide release that occurred on February 11, 2014 at 20:18 hrs. According to Phyllis Holifield, Manager of Environmental Protection Department, stated that an amine pump tripped out in the Fuel Gas Processing Unit stopping the amine flow for 4 minutes which lead to the release of sulfur dioxide from various furnaces in the unit.
State Police notification report states that amine pump was turned back on and functioning in the normal range of operation.
