Operator opened the dome lid while belly valve was open on rail car, causing the spill of about 2 barrels (84 US gallons) of Utah Yellow Crude Oil onto the ground. The duration of the spill lasted for approximately 4.25 hours between 3:00AM and 7:15AM.
The release was preventable because the operator opened dome lid, allowing crude oil to flow onto the ground. The belly valve was closed to prevent further loss.
