There is a gasket leak on a furnace. After further investigation, a crack was discovered in the piping going to the PCLA unit F-301 furnace is releasing 142 pounds per day of sulfur dioxide. After further evaluation, the facility determined that no RQs were exceeded (that determination was impossible at the time of this report because the relase was still ongoing). According to the facility's verbal notification the materials released to the air did go offsite.
142 pounds per day of SO2 is being released as a result of this event (at the time of this report there were 2 days of release). The total amount released from this event will be reported in the 60 day follow up notification.
